Supermarket chain Dirk van den Broek to open new store in Zijdelwaard in Uithoorn
Altera Vastgoed NV (hereafter: Altera) has further increased the level of satisfaction and involvement among its residential tenants over the past year, according to the annual tenant satisfaction survey conducted by Customeyes.
Altera invests on behalf of institutional shareholders (including pension funds and insurance companies) in rental housing in the Netherlands. We do so on the basis that good quality, sustainable homes are also the homes of the future. Altera’s residential properties create a sustainable return for our shareholders while having a positive practical impact on the lives of our tenants and helping to build a better society.
The survey results show that Altera tenants – in comparison with the benchmark – have the highest level of satisfaction with their homes. Our quality requirements for a good home – such as the size of the outdoor space, the level of equipment in the kitchen and the standard of the bathroom finish – are a major factor in this positive response. Our tenants also rate satisfaction with their home’s energy consumption well above the benchmark.
We are committed to permanently improving the quality of our homes by taking measures to promote sustainability, safety, health, welfare and climate-friendly living. This sense of commitment includes both new builds and existing homes. We like to involve our tenants in this process, not least through specialised apps such as Area of People, Blueway and StartUpHouse.

, Head of Residential Asset Management, sums up Altera’s response to the survey: “The aim is to increase ‘future-proofing’ by offering our tenants safe and pleasant homes that meet their living requirements. These results show that we are well on our way. We always see room for improvement, and that focus will determine our approach in the period ahead.”
Focus on sustainability
For many years, Altera has focused on achieving a sustainable portfolio. Last year, for example, solar panels were installed on all our single-family houses. This is one of the reasons why Altera’s residential fund has been named GRESB Real Estate Global Sector Leader for the second year running.
About the survey
Each year, the major institutional housing associations hold a tenant satisfaction survey in cooperation with research and consultancy firm Customeyes. Over 20,000 residential tenants participated in this year’s survey. The scope of the survey makes it possible to indicate a benchmark that enables Altera not only to assess its own results, but also to compare its performance with that of other investors. In addition, the results give us vital practical insights to further improve our tenants’ satisfaction, along with a better understanding of the housing needs and preferences of tenants in general.
