Altera acquires 124 apartments from SDK Vastgoed in Eindhoven’s Strijp-S area development

Real estate investor Altera, acting on behalf of the Altera Residential Fund, has acquired 124 apartments in the EXO project, part of the Strijp-S area development in Eindhoven. The vendor is SDK Vastgoed, a division of VolkerWessels. The 124 apartments will be realised within a single building. The building comprises 21 studios that will be let in the mid-market segment. The other one- and two-bedroom apartments will be let in the private rental sector. In addition to the homes, the building will also feature a communal area of 45 m² and 212 indoor bicycle parking spaces. It will comfortably meet the sustainability requirements of the Fund.

Prime location in a dynamic urban area

Strijp-S is a large-scale area development within the municipality of Eindhoven. Located in the city’s Strijp district (approximately 40,000 inhabitants), the area is transforming from a former Philips industrial site into a mixed-use urban living and working environment. A key characteristic of the district is its strong mix of residential, commercial and leisure functions, with an emphasis on culture, design, hospitality and (urban) sports.

Situated within the Eindhoven inner ring road, the location is just a short distance from the city centre and close to the PSV football stadium. Accessibility is excellent, with Strijp-S railway station within walking distance and a direct link to the inner ring road. Around 1,500 additional homes are expected to be realised in the area in the coming years. Adjacent to the EXO project, an underground car park will also be developed with approximately 430 parking spaces and a semi-public courtyard garden.

Altera CEO Jaap van der Bijl: “With the acquisition of 124 homes, including a number in the mid-market segment, we are further responding to the growing demand for housing in strong urban locations. Strijp-S is a prime example of this, offering an attractive living environment for a young, urban target group.”

Schedule and parties involved

The project developer is SDK Vastgoed BV, a division of VolkerWessels. Stam en De Koning B.V., also a division of VolkerWessels, will carry out the construction. Construction will begin this month, with completion scheduled for 2028.
