Altera acquires 50 apartments in Terras aan de Schie

Real estate investor Altera has acquired 50 apartments in the Terras aan de Schie project on behalf of the Altera Residential Fund. Terras aan de Schie will transform a former office building in the city of Schiedam into a residential tower with office spaces and commercial facilities. The residential complex consists of 130 one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments of between 65 and 85 m² with energy label A++. Fifty of these properties have been purchased by Altera, with the remainder sold on the private market. The ground floor will house a supermarket and other commercial units.

Terras aan de Schie is the first project to be delivered as part of the SchieDistrict area development, a large-scale, sustainable approach designed to take urbanisation, social inclusion and quality of life in Schiedam to the next level.

Location

The complex is very centrally located: not only adjacent to Schiedam station with its high-speed rail links to Rotterdam, The Hague and Amsterdam, but also offering ready access to the A20 motorway and situated opposite U Vastgoed’s latest real estate development s’MAAK Schiedam. The city centre, with its wide range of amenities, is within walking distance.

This sale fulfils the Municipality of Schiedam’s ambition to make part of the project accessible to the rental segment.

De Mik Real Estate Partners took care of the commercial side of the transaction, with Eversheds Sutherland providing legal support and overseeing the delivery. VB&T Vastgoedmanagement will manage the property on behalf of Altera. Ooms Makelaars, in addition to handling the sale of the remaining apartments to private buyers, also took care of renting the 50 apartments acquired by Altera.
