Reduction of CO₂ emissions and energy savings for Altera Retail Fund in 2024

On behalf of the Altera Retail Fund, real estate investor Altera completed sizable sustainability projects within their real estate portfolio in 2024. In cooperation with our partner, Bouwbedrijf Pennings, the work performed within the portfolio focused on the insulation of roofs and facades, window glass replacements and the installation of green roofs. In the short term, this work will result in benefits such as lower energy costs for tenants, improved comfort for users, and a positive ecological impact. In the longer term, the work contributes to our Paris Proof goals.

The improvements have led to annual energy savings of approximately 330,000 kWh, a reduction of the CO₂ emissions by 132,000 kg and a substantial lowering of the operational costs.

Erwin Wessels, CIO of Altera: “With these projects we highlight our dedication to sustainable investments. In addition to these environmental benefits, the measures also boost comfort and improve climate resilience. Thanks to a more stable indoor climate, more efficient water management due to the application of green roofs, and a positive impact on biodiversity, both users and the living environment are better protected in the long term. In this way we create a future-proof retail portfolio while contributing to a more sustainable living environment.”
