GRESB 2025: Altera tops sustainability ranking

Real estate investor Altera Management B.V.’s funds have once again achieved excellent results in the Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark (GRESB).

For the fourth year in a row, the Altera Retail Fund, which focuses on food and convenience, was ranked the Netherlands’ most sustainable retail fund in its category. The Altera Residential Fund also secured the top spot in its category.Both funds retained their GRESB 5 Star rating.

Altera CEO Jaap van der Bijl: “Our funds have been participating in the GRESB benchmark for 14 years now, allowing us to assess and compare our strategy and performance. This year’s results once again underline the valuable and structural nature of Altera’s contribution. Our strategy aims to achieve dual returns, delivering financial as well as ESG results. We are committed to developing sustainable buildings and improving the sustainability of existing properties in order to create lasting value for all our stakeholders: investors, tenants and society.”

We have further optimised our ESG data processes while reducing energy and water consumption. Taking part in the GRESB assessment not only gives us valuable insights, but also offers helpful guidance as we accelerate towards a Paris-proof portfolio by 2040.”

The GRESB scores

Altera has been participating in the GRESB benchmark since 2012. The GRESB benchmark is an independent and leading metric for the ESG performance of real estate and infrastructure worldwide. The recently published results are based on data received from over 2,200 property investors worldwide (representing a total of €7,000 billion AUM).
