Altera Vastgoed teams up with Dura Vermeer Renovatie Midden West to boost sustainability of 40 homes in Zevenaar

In collaboration with Dura Vermeer Renovatie Midden West, Altera Vastgoed will be making part of its residential portfolio more sustainable. It concerns a complex of 40 single-family houses in Zevenaar. This sustainability boost is in line with Altera’s ambition to make its property portfolio Paris Proof by 2040 at the latest.

Altera’s residential fund has received the maximum of five stars from GRESB every year since 2019. GRESB is an international property benchmark that applies environmental, social and governance (ESG) criteria to a company’s activities and their potential impact on society or the environment.

Erwin Wessels, CIO of Altera:

“Making our residential portfolio more sustainable is part of a wider sustainability strategy, geared towards achieving an integrated ESG approach. We want to keep improving; this collaboration is yet another demonstration of how we are rolling out the approach. This does not only serve the interests of our tenants, but also of the shareholders for whom we invest and of society as a whole. We are aware of our great responsibility when it comes to creating healthy environments that enhance people’s quality of life.”

Debby van Kraaij – Rasing, Adjunct Director of Dura Vermeer Renovatie Midden West

: “Making the homes of this project more sustainable aligns very well with our net-zero strategy, which aims to cut our CO2 emissions in half by 2030. CO2 is an important cause of global warming and, by extension, climate change. We’re taking our responsibility and involving the entire chain. With our net-zero strategy, we’re making a sustainable impact and a significant contribution as a building project coordinator. Everyone deserves a healthy living environment with opportunities to grow.”

Renovation work

The residents have agreed to sustainability measures for their homes. The work to be done in this context will include fitting a heat exchanging system, installing insulation for the roof and floor, and replacing the outside doors and glazing with HR+++. The homes have already been fitted with solar panels.
