Altera Residential Fund and BAM Wonen extended their partnership at PROVADA for fifth sustainability project: Rosmalen

During the PROVADA real estate fair, Altera and BAM Wonen signed a new construction agreement to make 40 single-family homes in Rosmalen more sustainable. This marks the continuation of the successful partnership as part of Altera Residential Fund’s sustainability efforts.

Following previous projects in Sassenheim, Udenhout, Voorhout and Almere, Rosmalen will be the fifth project in a series of targeted investments aimed at future-proofing the 1980s housing stock in the portfolio. The homes in Rosmalen, located in the De Overlaet-Oost neighbourhood, will be made more sustainable in line with Altera’s ambition to make its residential portfolio Paris Proof by 2040 at the latest.

The 70% resident participation required has already been achieved, which means that implementation of the sustainability measures can start at the end of September. Completion is scheduled for Spring 2026. The measures include energy improvements to the outer shell, adjustments to installations for good ventilation and targeted maintenance.

Making the residential complex more sustainable will result in an expected average reduction of 84 kWh per square metre per year in building-related energy consumption. This means that the energy labels of the homes will improve to A and A+, bringing them in line with the latest sustainability standards and significantly enhancing comfort for residents.

Altera CIO Erwin Wessels says: “Rosmalen is the fifth project in our series of targeted sustainability initiatives. The partnership with BAM Wonen enables us to progressively work towards a Paris Proof portfolio by 2040, while focusing on quality and support among residents.”

Henry Jongerden, Deputy Director of Sustainability at BAM Wonen, confirms this shared commitment: “We are proud to have been Altera’s sustainability partner for two years now. Through our collaboration, we are not only improving the energy performance of rental properties, but we are also facilitating enhanced comfort for residents, now and in the future.”

For four years running, Altera’s Residential Fund has been designated as a GRESB Real Estate Global Sector Leader. GRESB is a global benchmark for sustainability performance (ESG) in real estate investments.
